Lucky And Me

I actually have something to say

Haikus: The Five Senses November 10, 2010

Filed under: Poetry — Jessica @ 2:12 am

Water bubbles up

Beaks around us chirp soundly

Trees sway to their song.

Do not fret because

Without this music, we would

drown, in loneliness.

Cold water burns my

skin. As mud seeps through my toes,

I feel, full of peace.

The whiff of winter

Cinnamon and Lavendar

Christmas approaches

The sourness stings

like a bee. Yet it dances

on my tongue. Lemon.

Moon howls at the sky

Stars glitter, sprinkling me

Sky is black; sleeping.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF October 29, 2010

Filed under: Charities — Jessica @ 8:09 pm

Halloween is coming up! And not only do you get to stuff your face with endless sugar, you have the chance to help other kids all over the world.

UNICEF does a trick-or-treat fundraiser every year, and you can get a little orange box like this –>

On the back, it tells you how much each donation can help.

Did you know…

$.07 provides 50 kids with safe water for a day

$2 buys 1 liter of therapeutic milk

$19 buys 3 mosquito nets to protect kids from malaria

$257 provides an emergency classroom kit for 40 kids

#500 buys a water pump for a whole community

Don’t be a stickler and think if you don’t do this, someone else will, because you don’t know that, and if we all thought that way, we would never make a difference. You can also donate online from the website above.

If you can, donate a penny, nickel, or dime! Every cent counts, because every kid counts!

Inception September 26, 2010

I watched the movie, Inception, a loooong time ago, so I don’t know why I decided to talk about it now. Anyway, I was talking about it with some friends yesterday, so I thought it would be fun to let you guys know the characters.

But first, the plot:

This is the story of Don Cobb, who runs around with Arthur doing illegal jobs like stealing ideas out of someone’s memory/dream. Until one day, he comes across a man who wants him to do Inception (planting an idea in the mind). The man promises Cobb after this job, he can go home to his kids, (who he had to leave). Can Cobb and his crew accomplish the impossible?

Don Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio, Main Character)-

He’s a haunted man because he thinks he murdered his wife. So every time he’s on a “dream mission”, he keeps dreaming her up, even though she isn’t really there.

Arthur (Jordon Gordon-levitt, Dobb’s second in command)-

He’s the guy who makes sure everything is set in place for everything, kind of like a watch dog (in my opinion).

Ariadne (Ellen Page, a college girl)-

She is a new character they recruited. She is their…dream setter. She dreams up the setting, locations, details, etc., so Cobb can put fill it with his subconscious.

Eames (Tom Hardy, guy they needed to help carry out Inception)-

He’s part of Cobb’s crew they recruited.

Saito (Ken Watanabe, the asian man who gives Cobb the mission of Inception)-

There are a lot more characters, but I’ll just give you a few to keep you on your toes. This really is a great movie, so go watch it!

Shoutout to a very special friend <3 September 22, 2010

OK, so everyone knows I’m not the most outstanding writer, but something my friend E_m_  _hi_k_  told me just couldn’t stop making me smile. 🙂 So as a result, I’m dedicating THIS WHOLE POST to her. Hear that E_m_? THIS WHOLE POST.

Anyway, she read a simple poem I wrote in a certain notebook, and fell in love with it. She copied it down and forced me, FORCED ME to sign it. What’s wrong with you?! Just kidding. You know I love you. 🙂 So, crazy as she is, she apparently showed her whole family, and one of the most nicest remarks I have gotten in the history of nicest remarks this girl has ever had was that my simple little poem should be published in a book! Imagine that. Hmmm…maybe I can imagine it. I’m not sure if she will ever read this, but when she decides to, this post will be right here waiting for her.

Frazer Math August 19, 2010

Now I know all those rumors and crud I’ve been hearing were all about half true for Mr.Frazer’s math. But I did NOT KNOW that he reserved the first five seats of class for “The Top 5”. Way to boost our self esteem. I also did not know his room was almost as cold as Mrs.Byrd’s. Go figure. We went over a lot in our first day, (yesterday). We got to about the middle of Chapter 2 and we have our chapter test tomorrow, before school starts, and I’m not even close to being ready.

Today is Kennel Camp!! (Meet the Teacher Day.) I have to pick up Bev and Steph’s schedule. *sigh* Oh well! 😀 I’m looking forward to meeting friends that  I couldn’t meet over the summer. 🙂

When the Rain falls down August 1, 2010

When the rain falls down,

I will be the one

They will point and stare

And wonder, “Who is that girl?”

When the sky falls down,

I will be the one.

Holding it up

They will point and stare

And wonder, “Who is that girl?”

When the pigs fly,

I will be the one

Flying with them

They will point and stare

You will point and stare

And say, “I know that girl”
